Denture wearers often find that over time their dentures become loose, ill fitting, broken or cracked. In many cases there is a simple and quick solution to solve these issues.
Rebasing of dentures is performed when the base of the denture material has worn down. The dentures are retrofitted by replacing the base material with new acrylic. This provides a stable denture without replacing the denture teeth.
Relining dentures often becomes necessary as the mouth and gums change shape. Changes in the mouth can happen for several reasons including:
- Weight loss.
- Bone loss in the jaw.
- Illness or disease.
- Tooth loss.
By adding new base material to the gum side of the denture, we can change the fit of your denture to ensure a proper and comfortable fit once again. Relining will not change the appearance of your dentures.
Dentures that have been cracked or broken are a cause for concern and should be dealt with quickly. Repairs can be performed on dentures that have chipped or cracked, or when one or more teeth need to be added to an existing denture. Regular wear and tear may also result in a denture that needs repair.
Most denture repairs can be performed in a day. At Tram-Blair, we will assess your dentures and your oral health to ensure that any underlying problems will be taken into consideration.
